Varied program for Diversity Day

On the occasion of Diversity Day, we will be showing a new exhibition in the Central Library from May 7th. The focus of “Exclusion from the national community. Persecution of Homosexuals in the Nazi Era” focuses on the biographies of homosexual men and women from 1933 to 1945, their persecution by the police and justice system, their deaths in concentration camps, but also their will to live, to live in friendship and love and to organize sociability despite observation and threats . The exhibition opens on May 6th with a film screening and subsequent discussion .

You can also attend three other interesting events. Jako Wende will speak on May 13th about the persecution of trans* and gender-nonconforming people in the Nazi dictatorship . Matthias Lehmann graphic novel “Parallel” on May 22nd . Dr. , Lutz van Dijk will examine the question of whether there is queer remembrance of the Nazi era.

The exhibition and event program takes place in cooperation with the Gay Friends Bremen Foundation, the AG Rosa Winkel and the Kulturring Berlin.

program for children

In addition to the program for adults, we also offer something for children of different ages. Are there actually queer heroes in games? Or with a disability? Fred Rössler is an expert in inclusive media work and explores these questions in a workshop for children and young people. There are also multilingual picture book cinemas and a reading with digital hands-on stations.
