Jörg Hutter researches in an index card catalog.

»Film screening “Forbidden Love – Queer Victims of the Nazi Dictatorship” to introduce the topic and discuss it with Dr. Jörg Hutter on Bremen salaries«

Description

The ZDF documentary from January 27, 2024 uses three biographies to exemplify the persecution of gay, lesbian and trans people by the Nazi regime.
The sociologist Jörg Hutter worked as a research assistant at the University of Bremen from 1985 to 1998, where he was co-initiator of the GayLesbian Studies Bremen project, which ran from 1995 to 1999. In 1989, Hutter accompanied former concentration camp inmate Karl Gorath with a group of gay activists from the Rat&Tat Center. A documentation of the trip was created and Jörg Hutter later committed himself to coming to terms with the history of the persecution.

The event is part of the supporting program for the exhibition “Exclusion from the national community. Persecution of homosexuals in the Nazi era” – a work result of the research projects and the Rosa Winkel working group at the Kulturring in Berlin eV since 1997.

The exhibition and events are carried out in a cooperation between the Rat&Tat Center for Queer Life and the Stadtbibliothek Bremen with the support of the Gay Friends Bremen Foundation. The exhibition was made available by the Kulturring Berlin and the AG Rosa Winkel.
