“Invisible scars – what war does to people”

Description

Many people are affected by wars and armed conflicts. The wars in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip in particular also shape our everyday lives and our news. The fact that almost simultaneously a war in Nagorno-Karabakh led to the expulsion of almost the entire Armenian population that had lived there for two millennia has been completely overlooked.

With a reading in Armenian and German from works by the writer Erich Maria Remarque, the Armenian translator Vanuhi Baghmanyan and Konrad Zaiss , Bremen member of the Remarque Society, want to provide an insight into the scars that wars leave on all those affected. The fact that Remarque was the first writer to depict post-traumatic stress disorders in literature is of great importance in this context.

The reading is accompanied by singing from the Bremer Chorwerkstatt under the direction of Max Börner.
