Tom Adler: »Richard Wagner: delusion of the “total work of art” – cause and effect«

Description

Tom Adler has been a new research assistant at the Wagner sites in Graupa since 2023. In the year of Romanticism, it is worth tracing Richard Wagner's synesthetizing idea - the "total work of art" -: Where did the idea come from, what ideal did Wagner have in mind and what effect did this idea have on posterity?

Tom Adler, born in 1999, studied musicology at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar and has been actively working on Wagner research in the Oesterlein Collection in Eisenach since 2018. Parallel to his studies, he worked as a teacher at the Weimar University, but also gave lectures on musical theater in the 19th century with the work of Richard Wagner as a focus in cooperation with the Richard Wagner sites in Graupa, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Semperoper Dresden.
