Portrait: Annelie Keil

»Prof. Dr. Annelie Keil: The heart does not become demented! It continues to feel and calls for help«

Description

the sociologist and health scientist Annelie Keil will talk about the need to constantly reinvent yourself and your life. “I want everyone to know that I am a complete and whole human being. And I will be a complete and whole human being until my last breath. I want and need the same things, Alzheimer's does not diminish my need to love and be loved by others. Dementia doesn't mean that I no longer need meaning in life. Dementia doesn't mean I can't learn new things. “Dementia doesn’t mean that laughter is no longer important to me,” writes Richard Taylor, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, in his book.

Keil is active in the hospice movement and co-founder of the Palliative Care continuing education course in Bremen, which qualifies for professional care and support for seriously ill and dying people. In 2004, Keil received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her voluntary work to promote civic engagement, youth education, health advice and self-help and in 2019 the Bremen Senate Medal for Art and Science.

Organizer: Hospizhilfe Bremen eV in cooperation with the Stadtbibliothek Bremen .
