Portrait of Hari Kartini

»Hari Kartini Festival 2024«

Description

Captivity is the right word to describe the lives of women in the Kartini era during the Dutch colonial period. Not only her body, but also her mind, even her life, were not free. As soon as women reached puberty, they had to stay at home and isolate themselves. Women were not allowed to have great ambitions. They had nowhere to go to study or hold government positions. The only position they were given was that of wives, supporting their husbands. That changed thanks to Raden Adjeng Kartini, the Indonesian women's rights activist. At this festival she will be introduced in more detail: Who exactly is this female emancipation figure from Indonesia who inspires many people?

In addition, various culinary delicacies can be tried again this year.
