Bremen book premiere with Biggi Rist: “The Master of Cards”

Description

Biggi Rist aka Johanna von Wild presents her new novel about the most famous map in the world. It is the sixth historical novel written by Johanna von Wild.

Freiburg, 1492: Martin Waldseemüller studies the seven arts, discovers his love for cosmography and wants to devote himself entirely to science. While Spanish and Portuguese sailors discover unknown corners of the earth, Martin decides to give up his tranquil life and embark on a long journey without even suspecting that one day a map he has created will turn the previously known world upside down.

Biggi Rist, born in Reutlingen in 1964, switched to the historical novel genre in 2019 after writing crime novels and short stories. Her debut novel “The Enlightenment of the World” was followed by “The Duke’s Faithful” and “The Pillar of Justice,” each of which was nominated for the Golden Homer Prize. The novel “The Colors of the World” was published in 2022 and “The Legacy of those of Thurn and Taxis” in 2023.
