Alexander Estis is a writer and columnist. He was born in 1986 into a Jewish artist family in Moscow and moved to Hamburg with his parents in 1996. After completing his studies, he taught German language and literature at various universities. Since 2016 he has lived as a freelance author in Aarau / Switzerland). FLUCHTEN was published as his sixth book . His texts are published in anthologies and magazines (including Sinn und Form, Lichtungen, Drafts). He also writes essays, glosses and columns for newspapers such as FAZ, NZZ, SZ, ZEIT. His radio contributions can be heard regularly on Deutschlandfunk Kultur. Estis is a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland, PEN Berlin and Exil-PEN. He has received several awards for his texts, most recently the Kurt Tucholsky Prize . He mainly works in small literary forms; These include prosaic, lyrical and scenic miniatures. A special characteristic of his work - in addition to the stylistic diversity - is the fusion of prosaic and metrical form, of satire and seriousness, of essayistic and fiction, as well as of words and images.
