The Stadtbibliothek Bremen is a lively institution in tune with the times. We are represented with our libraries in 7 districts and have a library bus that travels to other districts. We have around 150 employees with very different life and work histories. Our libraries are important meeting places for people of all ages - they are places of learning, places of cultural participation and inclusion. Several thousand people visit us every day. In addition to a wide range of analog and digital media, we also offer PC workstations, electronic instruments and everyday objects for loan. We inspire with around 2,500 events every year: Tagtool workshops, language cafés, book premieres, interactive offers for kindergartens and school classes and much more. We enable free access to education and information, promote reading and media skills and offer attractive meeting spaces.

Your tasks and your future work area:

We are a small, dedicated team of 4 people who look after the children's and youth media in our library with full commitment and great joy.

  • You order, catalog and incorporate the latest print and AV media
  • You create daily statistics and work in the media delivery room
  • You process bookseller reports and complaints
  • You maintain our database (creation of authority data, database cleansing, corrections of data records)
  • They process book donations and media gifts
  • You represent your team in regular media processing tasks
  • You will take on tasks in the area of ​​technical media processing for up to 8 hours per week
  • Optional: You will advise our visitors together with our team in the central library

Her strengths:

  • You have completed vocational training as a specialist (f/m/d) for media and information services - specializing in libraries or as a library assistant (f/m/d) or a comparable qualification in the area of ​​books, media or information
  • If possible, you have experience in the area of ​​cataloging or comparable data collection activities
  • You have knowledge of the applicable cataloging regulations
  • Ideally, you have knowledge of using library-specific software (e.g. SISIS, WinIBW in GVK)
  • You are interested in (children's) literature and in dealing with books and AV media
  • You enjoy and enjoy dealing with people
  • You are highly customer and service oriented
  • You are happy to get involved in the further development of our offerings
