Our winter reading challenge starts
For many people, autumn and winter are the best reading times. in our reading challenge , which is now entering a new round. We have come up with 15 different challenges And there’s something else to win too!
What is the Winter Reading Challenge?
You choose one or more from 15 reading tasks, the challenges, and solve them. All tasks encourage you to engage with the book - and in an unusual way.
How do I take part in the challenge?
your short review using our online form or use the participation cards . No matter whether good or bad, every opinion counts and goes into the raffle. The lottery boxes are located in the central library at the reception and in our branches.
What is to be considered?
All books and audio books available in the Stadtbibliothek are permitted.
What are the tasks?

- Close your eyes and read through – Choose any book from one of our shelves
- Eavesdrop - Listen to an unabridged audio book
- Freshly unpacked – Read a new release from 2023
- Cocoa with cream – A book that will warm your heart
- Ka-Boom – Read a comic or graphic novel
- Wanderlust – Read a book about a place you would like to travel to
- History Lesson – A book with a historical event
- The days are getting shorter – A book with less than 200 pages
- Happy New! – Read the first part of a series
- Me, Myself & I – A book that has a first-person narrator
- Lost in translation – Read a book in another language
- Journey of Discovery – A book with a map
- But now! – Read a book you've always wanted to read
- It doesn't get any greener than this - a book with a flower or plant on the cover
When is the deadline for submissions?
The challenge runs from the beginning of November to the end of January and ends on January 31, 2024 . The draw will then take place and the winners will be informed in writing.
What is there to win?
Attractive prizes relating to books and the library will be raffled off. One of the great surprises for a successful reading winter is an e-reader.
What are the conditions of participation?
By submitting the participation card (challenge review), you agree that the Stadtbibliothek Bremen can use and publish the review for various communication measures (print, online, etc.). A BIB CARD is not required to participate . Any natural person who has reached the age of 18 can take part; Employees of the Stadtbibliothek Bremen and their family members are excluded. It is not possible to pay out the winnings in cash or transfer them to other people. The personal data will only be used for the purposes of this competition and will not be further processed or passed on.
