Our program for the Sustainability Action Week

Science lecture, pop-up fair share and program for the whole family: In September we are offering numerous activities and events in our libraries as part of the German Action Week on the topic of sustainability.

In the central library, the program is under the motto “Life under water” - and for this we have found a great cooperation partner in MARUM - Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen! Researching the ocean floor and protecting the marine environment are the focus of MARUM. We present impressive photos of the scientists' work in our action area and provide spectacular insights into the underwater world of the deep sea in the “Sea Cinema”. Meet fascinating creatures in our central library, such as the long-nosed chimera or the dumbo octopus. And, if you want to know what the topic of “ocean popcorn” is all about, you shouldn’t miss the lecture by Franziska Tell (MARUM) on September 19th, 2022 at 6 p.m. in the Wall Hall!

Our team in Lesum invites you to “Sustainability Day for the whole family” . In addition to a clothing exchange, the Foodsavers from Foodsharing present their work and offer saved food to try. And from September 20th until 4.10. In the central library you will find a place with the pop-up fair divider where everyone can bring food and take it with them.

Picture book cinemas , workshops and lectures – our other program is also impressive. Discover further events in the Huchting, Vahr, and Vegesack district libraries. We are looking forward to your visit!
