Stadtbibliothek Bremen in the interim quarter
The Stadtbibliothek Bremen -Vegesack city library is being renovated. Therefore, the library has now
moved for the time being and will be open at Kirchheide 34-42, in the former fitness studio at
the bus stop opposite the community center, for the duration of the renovation
.
So that the old location can be comprehensively modernized, the owner
Immobilien Bremen is planning extensive measures, which press spokesman Peter Schulz
outlines as follows: The focus of the renovation is the roof of the building, which
is leaking in several places and will be completely replaced.
In this context, the suspended ceilings inside the Stadtbibliothek and the
lighting must also be removed and replaced.
In addition, there are smaller additional measures to improve preventive
fire protection, which Immobilien Bremen has installed as well as a
smoke exhaust system.
The heat distribution network and heating surfaces will be renewed, as will the sanitary facilities in the building, which will also receive completely new flooring
.
Furthermore, the building is to be optimized with regard to the needs of disabled people and given access for use as an “open library”.
This will allow registered visitors
to use the library outside of regular opening hours.
Immobilien Bremen aims to begin dismantling in late winter.
The entire construction project will take around a year .
