Reading day in the children's library

“Are you saving for Messi?”

Werder President Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald reads on reading day in the children's library.

The initiators DIE ZEIT, Stiftung Lese and Deutsche Bahn want to arouse enthusiasm for reading and reading aloud and have invited people to the nationwide reading day for the 14th time this year. The Stadtbibliothek Bremen was also there again. On Friday, November 17th, Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald, President of SV Werder Bremen, is a guest in the children's library of the Central Library. After being welcomed by library director Barbara Lison, he read football stories to an invited 4th grade class from the Mayor Smidt School elementary school. Among other things, he brought with him a short story by midfielder Zlatko Junuzovic, which is also printed in the book “12 Friends You Should Be”.

Afterwards, the Werder president had to answer extensive and detailed questions from the fourth graders (“Are you saving for Messi?” or “Is Werder going down?”). When there were signed Werder scarves for everyone, the children enthusiastically left the pirate ship and immersed themselves in the extensive media collection in the children's library.

The day of action follows the idea: everyone who enjoys reading aloud reads to others on this day - for example in schools, kindergartens, libraries or bookstores. Last year there was a record participation: over 130,000 readers took part in the nationwide reading day, including many celebrities from politics, culture and the media. The initiators brought the Nationwide Reading Day into being 14 years ago, so that children in particular would be read to even more and, if possible, everyone in Germany could enjoy reading.
