Queer theme days in the Stadtbibliothek

Since 2019, Queer Power Month Bremen has focused on the stories, lifestyles and experiences of queer people. This year, thanks to many supporters, the program can be extended into December. The Stadtbibliothek Bremen is also taking part.

On September 23rd we welcomed Sasha Marianna Salzmann in the Wall Hall of the Central Library. You can watch the recording of the event here on our YouTube channel .

In his book “I am Linus”, the author and activist Linus Giese talks about discrimination and threats, but also the great happiness of finally being yourself. The Bremen native has been campaigning for the rights of trans* people since he came out. On November 4th, Giese will read from his book in the central library, and a day later he will speak in the Vegesack district library about queer diversity in children's and young adult books .

Queer life in children's books will also be the focus on November 19th, when the Rat&Tat Center and the intercultural children's book project "EeneMeeneKiste" are offering an afternoon for browsing and browsing on the topic. However, this event focuses on books for younger children. In addition to thematic book boxes, a picture book cinema and a Kamishibai reading are also planned.

Under the motto “Lesbian is just a word”, the author Anne Bax and the musician Anika Auweiler invite you to a musical reading on November 30th in the Wall Sall of the Central Library. With wit and music, with an extraordinary sense for strange situations and with a loving look, they describe and sing about some of the absurdities of everyday lesbian life.

You can also follow three of the five events in the live stream.
