Collect trash and enjoy coffee
As is well known, libraries have long been offering more than just books, CDs and DVDs. In Vegesack you can now also garbage collection sets from the Bremer Stadtreinigung . A set consists of a grabber, a bucket and a pair of gloves. Anyone who goes out armed with this, collects rubbish and then delivers it to the library will receive a coffee specialty in the library café to fortify themselves. There is a nice surprise for little helpers.
“Unfortunately there is rubbish and cigarette butts everywhere. With this offer, we would like to encourage people who care about their district to get involved and reward their commitment,” says Martin Renz, head of the Vegesack district library, explaining the idea.
“The Stadtbibliothek Bremen supports the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations.
In Vegesack, for example, we do this with activities in the library garden, environmental education events, our clothing exchange and the swap shelf, where things that are too good to throw away change hands. The garbage collection sets from Bremen city cleaning are an excellent addition to our offerings.”
