Children become book heroes

Meeting a real children's book author, building a fairy tale cave, going on a treasure hunt in the Stadtbibliothek , discovering new favorite books, making sets and finally filming the stories from the new favorite books themselves - around 60 children between the ages of 6 and 10 experienced all of this during the summer holidays Osterholz Tenever district. The Stadtbibliothek Bremen Osterholz City Library set up the project together with the mothers' center, the Pfälzer Weg playhouse and the media educators from creaclic. Over three consecutive weeks, 20 children were able to experience a colorful program that equally promoted motivation to read and engagement with digital media.
The project was financed as part of the “Culture makes you strong – reading makes you strong” initiative, in which the German Library Association (dbv) provides funds from the BMBF for innovative projects
to promote reading and media skills.
In addition to children who regularly spend their holidays in the Pfälzer Weg playhouse or in the mothers' center, 16 children from two emergency shelters were also involved in the project. The creaclic media educators and the Stadtbibliothek by volunteers from the district who accompanied the children's groups.
