Refugees as colleagues
We have been offering intercultural offers for our customers from a wide variety of cultures for many years. We also want to reflect the diversity of Bremen society in our employee teams. But attracting people with a migrant background to a training occupation that even very few Germans are familiar with seems to remain a real challenge. Through the Bremen-wide project “Future Chance Training” we were able to recruit refugees for our training for the first time. In this article, Britta Schmedemann describes what experiences we have had with this project over the last 3 years and how our new trainees are changing our everyday lives and the library.
