Democracy needs libraries!

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Basic Law, which came into force today, the German Library Association issued a statement reminding readers that libraries play a vital role in participation in our democratic society. We, as a library, base our self-understanding on Article 5 of the Basic Law, which guarantees freedom of expression and information in the Federal Republic of Germany.
