the Bremen Literature Prize on Monday, January 23rd The Viennese received the award for his novel “Mercury Light”.
Martin Kordić received the sponsorship award for his novel “Years with Martha” .

Dr.
Lothar Müller, chairman of the jury, stated approvingly in his laudatory speech for Stangl's novel: “To tell the story like Thomas Stangl, with so much freedom for the
imagination, about yourself and your own world of origin, about the books and the
language of literature, about the almighty , Chinese emperor powerless against death
, by the Brontë siblings and their novel shadows is no small
art.”

At the ceremony in the Upper Town Hall, Bremen's Senator for Culture, Mayor
Dr.
Andreas Bovenschulte emphasizes the high status and positive development of literature in Bremen's cultural life: “The awarding of the Bremen Literature Prize brings
the Bremen town hall into direct contact with outstanding literature every year
.
This prestigious award is being presented for the 69th time today, three days before the 145th birthday of the Bremen poet Rudolf Alexander Schröder, the
patron of the prize.

The award ceremony was opened again this year to all interested parties.
Due to the pandemic, celebrations could only be celebrated on a small scale last year.
In 2021, the award was presented virtually to the winners.
