3 months, 15 challenges

For many people, autumn and winter are the best reading times. You will find inspiration in our reading challenge, which is now entering a new round. We have come up with 15 different challenges for you. And there’s something else to win too!  

What is the Winter Reading Challenge? 

You choose one or more from 15 reading tasks, the challenges, and solve them. All tasks encourage you to engage with the book - and in an unusual way.  

How do I take part in the challenge?

You can submit your short review using our online form or use the participation cards available in the libraries. No matter whether good or bad, every opinion counts and goes into the raffle. The lottery boxes are located in the central library at the reception and in our branches. Stadtbibliothek are permitted .

What are the tasks? 

  1. What a ham! Read a thick tome of at least 400 pages  
  2. Headphones on! A book that (has) inspired you to write a song for your playlist  
  3. Original sound – read or listen to a book in the original language (can also be German) 
  4. Blind date – read a book by an author you don’t know 
  5. Is there one lying there? A book in which a dead person plays a role or someone dies  
  6. Please smile! A book that made you laugh out loud or at least smile when you read it  
  7. I'll take you with me! An item that caught your eye in your library (why did you notice it?)  
  8. Spot on and action! A book that is also available as a theater performance or film adaptation!  
  9. Aha moment – ​​a book from which you learned something new (what was that?) 
  10. More than a thousand words - a book with pictures/illustrations 
  11. Really true - a book based on a true story 
  12. Dear Diary – a book written in diary form 
  13. What if – a dystopia/utopia 
  14. Boom! A book without an “E” in the title  
  15. Eeyore, Woof, Meow & Kikeriki: A book with an animal on the cover 
     

When is the deadline for submissions?
The challenge runs from the beginning of November to the end of January and ends on January 31, 2023. The draw will then take place and the winners will be informed in writing.

What is there to win?
Attractive prizes relating to books and the library will be raffled off. Among the great surprises for a successful reading winter are two tolino eReaders, three BIB CARDS and much more...

What are the conditions of participation?
By submitting the participation card (challenge review), you agree that the Stadtbibliothek Bremen can use and publish the review for various communication measures (print, online, etc.). A BIB CARD is not required to participate. Any natural person who has reached the age of 18 can take part; Employees of the Stadtbibliothek Bremen and their family members are excluded. Participation takes place by submitting or sending in a fully completed participation card. It is not possible to pay out the winnings in cash or transfer them to other people. The personal data will only be used for the purposes of this competition and will not be further processed or passed on.
