The Bremen animal protection association is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year. The exhibition shows the impressive history of the association from its founding in 1894 to today: What began in 1894 with good ideas but few resources has developed over the decades into an indispensable institution that is passionate about the rights and well-being of animals used. The Bremen animal shelter has developed into one of the most beautiful and modern animal shelters in Germany. Almost 400 animals are cared for here every day. Its exciting story ranges from the founders' first steps and initiatives through the challenges, milestones and successes in the difficult times of the 20th century to the modern achievements and projects of today's association. Historical documents and photographs impressively illustrate the change and development of animal protection in Bremen.
