With two and a half million visits annually, the Bremen Stadtbibliothek is the city's most visited cultural institution and a central hub in Bremen's social fabric. We facilitate encounters between people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. We are a place of learning and cultural education – essential for everyone who wants to access information through publicly available media and engage in lifelong learning. And we are a place to linger. People of all ages and interests can spend time with us, even without spending any money.
In seven libraries located in different parts of the city and a mobile library, we offer a comprehensive and constantly updated media collection, taking into account trends, social developments, and, above all, the needs of our patrons. In addition to our media offerings, extracurricular reading promotion and the development of media literacy are central to our mission. To this end, we offer engaging programs for all age groups that foster a love of reading and independent media use. We also host events for leisure, entertainment, and education for visitors of all ages. More than three million items are borrowed from us each year – including media from our extensive digital collection, which offers ebooks, film streaming, and much more.

"With our products and services, we contribute to all 17 sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda."
