"Who was Erich Ohser? – Erich Ohser: Life & Work"

Description

Erich Ohser (1903–1944), known by his pen name eoplauen as the creator of the lighthearted yet profound picture stories of "Father and Son." He spent his childhood in the Vogtland region, studied and began his career in Leipzig, and became a successful draftsman, graphic artist, illustrator, caricaturist, and press cartoonist in Berlin. A friend of literary figures like Erich Kästner (2024: 125 years of Erich Kästner!) and Erich Knauf, the "three Erichs," he keenly followed contemporary historical events in the Spree metropolis.

His artistic life poignantly reflects German history with its ruptures and contradictions. Erich Ohser tragically died at the young age of 41. The exhibition also highlights the Erich Ohser House in Plauen, where his artistic legacy is preserved and presented to the public through regular exhibitions.

The exhibition is designed in such a way that it is also suitable for children and young people.
