"TippStelle" – Be there live when female authors write!
Description
Authors Ursula Pickener and Martina Burandt unpack their Olympia Gabriele, a mechanical typewriter, and launch their "project for creative word creation" live, interacting with all visitors who drop by, whether intentionally or by chance. They aim to make literary writing visible and audible as a public process, exploring the interplay of context, encounters, and the writers' own processes of processing and transforming the texts. The Olympia Gabriele makes its presence known with a pleasant, satisfying sound; those with a keen sense of smell might even detect the ink from the ribbon! The audience influences the emerging texts through questions, conversations, silence, and by looking away or not. The authors capture these "passing stories," read them aloud, and share them with interested participants.
The "TippStelle" (Tip Point) is part of a project founded by Cologne-based author Frank Osthoff. In mid-April, the VS Bremen (Association of German Writers in ver.di) received his "license to tap" and is using the format to fuse political and literary work. To mark the 75th anniversary of the Basic Law (Germany's constitution), the authors, as described above, aim to connect the location, the people, and the perspective on fundamental rights. They will base their work on current events related to exclusion and democracy, linking them to the location where they are setting up their TippStelle, and sharing their insights with their audience.
