Description

Questions regarding guardianship law, powers of attorney and advance healthcare directives are frequently raised at the Huchting service center.

The Huchting service center, in cooperation with the Stadtbibliothek wants to respond to the interest of many citizens

What should you consider when granting power of attorney to someone else? Even if you already have an advance healthcare directive, you should consider additional powers of attorney for emergencies. To ensure your wishes are respected in all areas of life, you need to make provisions for the event that you are no longer able to represent your own interests.

Equally important is the question of what friends and relatives who are caring for someone and have power of attorney need to consider. What decisions are they allowed to make, and to whom must they be accountable?

To give as many people as possible the opportunity to learn more, the Huchting Service Center is offering a lecture on the topic of guardianship law.

Torsten Bruns, a Bremen-based lawyer specializing in family and inheritance law and a notary in Huchting, will give a presentation outlining the legal requirements for adult guardianship, introducing the relevant authorities, and presenting alternatives to legal guardianship. A question and answer session will follow.

The question of a power of attorney is followed by the question of a will. A lecture on inheritance law will be given on April 24, 2025.
