“No – An incitement to say no” – Reading and discussion with Maike Schöfer
Description
We are all born with a "no." We cry out because something isn't right. As defiant girls, we are initially cute, but then our protest is conditioned out of us. We are supposed to please, not cause trouble. With this book, Maike Schöfer gives us back our "no." A "no" can be an act of self-assertion, a rejection, but also something much greater: resistance. Whether as a liberating "no" to things we don't want to do, or as an angry "no" to entrenched structures and discrimination. An inspiring, personal exploration of perhaps the most feminist word we can choose.
Maike Schöfer, born in 1989, is a pastor in Berlin. Feminist, queer, and unconventional, she fights against injustices digitally as @ja.und.amen and analogously in her clerical robes – in society and in her church.
An event on the occasion of International Women's Day by the Stadtbibliothek Bremen in cooperation with the Equal Opportunities Office of the BEK, Protestant Women in Bremen and the Protestant Education Center Bremen.
