Reading for children at the Blumenthal outdoor swimming pool

Grab your towels and picnic blankets and head to the outdoor pool – this summer, not only cool water but also story time awaits you! On July 12th, Corinna Schmelter-Pourian from her book "Alleinkind" (Alone Child).

The family day starts at 11 a.m. with a varied program presented by Bremen's public swimming pools, supplemented from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. by the Stadtbibliothek Bremen. The day concludes with a reading and subsequent workshop with the Bremen Literature House and Bremen author Corinna Schmelter-Pourian from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for children aged 5 and up.

"An only child is an only child. Single, not lonely. Right?" This is the question the only child asks herself, because on some days she does feel a little lonely. She also thinks it's unfair not to have siblings like her friends, but just a dachshund. Sometimes, though, she's happy not to have to share her mom, dad, and the dachshund, and to be able to choose her playmates all by herself. Corinna Schmelter-Pourian encourages discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of being an only child. She underscores the text with high-contrast images and colorful accents.

From 11 am you can expect small hands-on activities from the Bremen swimming pools and from 1 pm you can try out great games from our library of things on our activity area.

Entry to the swimming pool costs €2 for children. The free children's and youths' pass can be used for payment.
