Jörn Birkholz reads from his new novel "The Breakout"
Description
A quirky and fast-paced journey through allotment gardens and into one's own past. – Max has always lived in Bremen, works as a temporary employee in a historical archive, and has a daughter with Annette. He's dissatisfied with his life, but too weak to break free. Then, his ex-girlfriend Iza suddenly gets in touch, announcing her imminent arrival in the city. A joint visit to Iza's family turns into a burlesque, almost cinematic adventure. A novel that tells of the longing for home, youth, and freedom, whose characters reveal themselves as displaced persons from their old or new homeland, or displaced by love.
