"Letters for Strangers"
Description
"I think that small acts of love, tenderness, and joy make life more beautiful." (Frida Kahlo) In the open writing workshop, you can write letters to strangers at five different stations. Participants will recall a situation from their lives and share words that helped them, or would have helped them, at that time. These can be free-form texts, a favorite poem, or a quote that gave them courage in that particular situation. The overarching themes of the stations will be: loneliness, separation/heartbreak, grief, illness, and transition/retirement.
For those experiencing writer's block, prepared prompts are available, and a creative activity table completes the program. The letters are then placed in color-coded envelopes and gradually deposited in publicly accessible mailboxes throughout the city for collection. Registration at Saskia.Woehler@awo-bremen.de would be appreciated, but spontaneous participation is also welcome. Participants of all ages are encouraged to join.
Red – Heartbreak
Blue – Grief
Green – Illness
Yellow – Transition/Retirement
Purple – Loneliness (general)
