The Stadtbibliothek Bremen is a vibrant institution that keeps pace with the times. We have branches in seven districts and a mobile library that serves even more. Our team of approximately 150 employees brings a wide range of life and professional backgrounds to the community. Our libraries are vital meeting places for people of all ages – spaces for learning, encounters, and participation. We welcome thousands of visitors every day. Many people take advantage of our on-site services (such as workspaces, newspapers, and tablets). In addition to a diverse selection of analog and digital media, we also offer everyday items for loan. We host around 2,500 events annually: digital workshops, language cafés, book launches, interactive programs for kindergartens and school classes, and much more. We provide free access to education and information, promote literacy and media literacy, and offer attractive spaces for interaction, free of charge, that encourage exploration and participation.
Your tasks and your future work area:
Information Team 1 of the Central Library is responsible for the second floor, which houses the Central Information Desk, the Music Information Desk, the Activity Area, the Music Space, and the Youth Area. The Central Library's diverse non-fiction collection and the Library of Things are also located there. The team also promotes the extensive digital resources (such as e-lending, digital databases/courses, VR stations, etc.) and is constantly seeking new and creative ways to foster lifelong learning.
And these are your diverse tasks
- They provide information services on the 2nd floor (and at other information points in the building)
- Working as a team, they further develop target group-specific offerings, in particular events on information and media literacy from grade 7 onwards
- They participate in cultural orientation events, e.g., moderating the language café (and occasionally assisting with evening events)
- You are a liaison (m/f/d) with the editors for selected subject groups (media collections) and coordinate your work with them
- They inspire our customers by presenting media in an appealing way
- They design their outreach work with multipliers and institutions in a targeted and reliable manner
- You will participate in topic-related working groups and continuously develop your professional skills

- They are highly customer- and service-oriented and enjoy interacting with people
- They enjoy working with colleagues, including those from different departments, and proceed in a goal-oriented and transparent manner
- They think in a networked way, also in the sense of the "one-house concept", and contribute to the further development of our library
- They are curious and open to change; familiarity with technology and digital innovations is also standard for them
- They consider flexible work schedules in the evenings and on Saturdays to be perfectly normal.
- You have completed a degree in library science or have a comparable (specialized) university degree/BA and also possess sound and practically acquired library science expertise
