Information for parents/guardians about the (digital) school library card

Students in Bremen can create a digital library card using their school iPad. A link on the iPad creates an account with the Stadtbibliothek , and students immediately receive a library card number. With this personal library card number, they can access all of the Stadtbibliothek 's digital resources (e.g., Statista and Munzinger).

Furthermore, up to three items can be borrowed from any of the Stadtbibliothek. The barcodes displayed on the iPad can be scanned at the library's self-checkout machines. It's even easier if the digital library card is saved on a smartphone via the Stabi app. You can find out how to do this here.

What data is transmitted to the Stadtbibliothek and what is it used for?

  • Date of birth: This is required to comply with age restrictions (FSK) (e.g., for films on Filmfriend)
  • Personal ID: This is provided by the school and is required to create a library account to which the borrowed media are assigned.
  • Automatically generated email alias: This is required to remind you of return dates. The emails can be accessed with any email client.

What happens if media borrowed with the school library card are lost or damaged?

Occasionally, media items may get lost or damaged. If this happens, please let us know. We can then remove the book from circulation so no one else has to wait for it. There are no costs involved.

What happens if the loan period is exceeded?

The loan period can usually be extended via the app, by phone, or in person at the library. Once the borrowed item has been returned, a new one can be borrowed. There are no costs involved.
