Seeds for your garden or balcony
The gardening season has begun – and with it, the time for sowing and planting. In our seed library, you'll find a selection of seeds for flowers and vegetables. The service operates on a swapping principle: you can take seeds, try them out, and later contribute your own.
Here's how it works:
- Borrow seeds: Visit our locations with seed libraries and take seeds home with you
- Growing plants: Sow your seeds and enjoy the anticipation of the harvest
- Harvest seeds: Obtain seeds from a small part of the harvest
- Return seeds: Bring the bags containing the harvested seeds back to the library
Please use only open-pollinated seeds. Open-pollinated means that plants can be propagated using traditional methods (e.g., insect pollination) without losing their variety-specific characteristics. Nowadays, so-called F1 hybrids are commonly found in stores. If seeds from hybrid plants are harvested and sown, the variety-specific characteristics are lost.
The offer can be found in Lesum, Vahr, Vegesack, Central Library (2nd floor)
