Seed packets in a stand

New in Huchting: The seed library

Autumn has begun, and many plants have already finished blooming. For gardening enthusiasts, this is the perfect time to harvest seeds from flowers and vegetables for next year's garden. Would you like to support plant diversity, preserve heirloom varieties, or exchange your own seeds? Then join our seed library.

Many of our libraries are already participating. The seed exchange program is now also available at the Huchting library. Do you already have your own (viable) seeds? Then pick up an empty packet from us and bring it filled on your next visit.

Here's how it works:

  • Select a bag
  • Plant seeds indoors in the garden, on the balcony, or in a pot on the windowsill
  • Wait until the plants have grown and enjoy the blossoms or harvest vegetables or fruits
  • Return the seeds from the harvested plants to the library
  • We also welcome seeds from your own garden
  • It is important that the seeds are "open-pollinated" and do not come from hybrid plants!
