"Language as Host" – The Literature Festival in Bremen-North

“Host Language”, the literature festival for Bremen-North, is back! From
February 28th to April 14th, 2020, over 30
readings will take place at more than 20 locations throughout Bremen-North as part of the festival.

Since its premiere in spring 2016, "Gastgeber Sprache" (Host Language) has been held annually
and is now taking place for the fifth time. The initiative for the festival
originated with the group of authors who present their works in the
"Punkt 11" (Point 11) event series at the Stadtbibliothek Bremen -Vegesack City Library. The aim was to offer
not only established reading formats at familiar venues but also more
unconventional events centered around literature,
bringing them together under the umbrella of a festival.

Thanks to the initiative of the many participating literary professionals and institutions,
the festival program in 2020, as in previous years, offers a
large and diverse array of events that
leaves nothing to be desired for literature lovers: From readings of short prose and poetry to thrillers, crime novels
, and childhood memories, to "shared reading," not only is the entire
spectrum of literary diversity covered, but the variety of performance venues is also
remarkable: Author readings in private living rooms, kindergartens, local history
and sports clubs, or, of course, the Stadtbibliothek take place in succession.
