Film of the Month: “Annette”
Henry McHenry (Adam Driver) is a successful stand-up comedian, Ann Desfranoux (Marion Cotillard) a celebrated opera singer. Their passionate relationship produces a daughter, Annette, who appears in the film as a wooden puppet. But when Henry's career falters, their family happiness increasingly transforms into a dark drama of jealousy, ambition, and self-destruction.
"Annette" is a visually stunning and unusual musical film about toxic relationships, ambition, and the destructive power of one's own ego. Carax received an award for his direction at the Cannes Film Festival.
