Digital guides help with the use of the ID card app

Those wishing to apply for a police clearance certificate, change their address, or obtain pension information no longer need to visit the office in person. Applications for student loans (BAföG) and vehicle registration can also now be conveniently handled online – thanks to the online identification function of the national identity card and residence permit.

To enable even more people to use this option safely and easily, the Stadtbibliothek Bremen together with the association buergerservice.org and the Bremen-based company Governikus, offers a practical support service.

Digital guides help step by step

From September 15th to November 23rd, a Digital Guide will assist interested citizens in installing the AusweisApp, setting up their personal PIN, clarifying the next steps in case of problems with the PIN, setting up a BundID account, and mastering the first steps in using digital administrative services.

Consultations take place at the following times:
Mon, Tue, Fri: 10:00-17:00
Wed: 13:00-17:00
Thu: 09:00-16:00

In practical terms, the guides show how to digitally identify yourself with your smartphone and use online administrative services – for example, to apply for parental allowance or, if available digitally on site, maintenance advance payments, to view your own points balance in the driver fitness register of the Federal Motor Transport Authority or to use other online services of the administration.

Free and without registration

The service is free and available until October 23rd. Afterwards, the service will continue at one of our branch libraries. To participate, simply bring your ID card or residence permit, the corresponding PIN or PIN letter, and a smartphone. No prior registration is necessary.
